Audition Information
Unlabeled Theatre Company: We are a diverse company of artists with a wide range of talents and needs. Our performances are stronger and more impactful when we are able to showcase the abilities of all artists. Our productions utilize the “shadow partner” staging model. Each role features an actor-artist with a cognitive/physical disability or are neurodivergent, who works with a shadow partner to develop and perform a role together. Because every member of our company has different needs and talents, each partnership is unique.
Seeking Actor-Artists 18+: who have a cognitive and/or physical disability or are neurodivergent, and are interested in the mission of Unlabeled Theatre Company of creating unified theatrical performances.
Seeking Shadow Partners 18+: Ideal partners are those with professional, theatrical, performing experience, or who have experience working with individuals with different needs. Please email Jessica Froehlich, Artistic Director, your resume and letter of intent if you are interested in working as a shadow partner.

Partnerships are the key to how we are able to create these incredible performances. In order to participate each artist must have a dedicated artistic partner who will support them at every audition, rehearsal and performance on and off the stage. Artistic partners can be friends, PCAs, siblings, etc. They need to be comfortable performing on stage and able to support their artist with whatever their needs may be (for example helping with mobility, assisting with a wheelchair, singing or dialogue support, or helping to remember spacing and choreography). We will be partnering with some professional and emerging artists to support our lead roles, so some of our artists will be provided with a partner. If the artist needs personal care or behavior support, they will still need to have a support staff attend with them, the support staff just wouldn’t be on stage for the performance. Many artists in our production will need to privately arrange a consistent and reliable partner.
Bring someone with you who can stay for the entire audition. We would LOVE it if that person was your intended artistic partner for the show – but we know not everyone has a partner lined up yet! If you don’t yet have a partner, please don’t let that stop you from coming to auditions! Bring someone and come!
Auditions: August 27th, 2026 from 6:00-8:30 PM. General auditions will take place at St. Peter’s in Edina (5421 France Ave S., Edina MN 55410.) No preparation necessary.
Cost: Free!
Age: 18+ (adult; high school graduate)
Rehearsals: September 2026-January 2027. Mondays, Tuesdays and Thursdays from 6:00-8:30 PM. All general rehearsals take place at St. Peter’s in Edina. Tech, dress rehearsals, and performances at Gremlin Theatre, St Paul. NO REHEARSALS on holidays.
Performances: January 15-17 and 21-24 (2027), at the Gremlin Theatre in St. Paul. Please note, January 21 will be a school day matinee at 11:00AM.
